Congressman Gibson Statement on Healthcare Repeal Vote
Washington,
Jan 7, 2011 -
Washington, DC - Congressman Chris Gibson released the following statement today on the upcoming vote to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Healthcare Act, known as “Obamacare:”
“While I am disappointed that we are not simultaneously repealing and replacing, consistent with my campaign pledges I will vote to repeal the healthcare bill next week in Congress. I am in consultation with my colleagues and expect to support replacement legislation that provides insurance reform that is in line with free market principles and includes medical liability reform. Our healthcare system clearly needs reform, but what the Democratic Majority passed last year, over bipartisan opposition and against the will of the American people, is not the solution. We need legislation that ensures every American can access quality and affordable healthcare in a way that does not result in a massive government takeover, does not endanger small businesses, and will not bankrupt our country.”
